AFFECTED VERSIONS
All Keep Alive versions before August 2008
PROBLEM
Installing the service on Windows Vista having User Access Control (UAC) enabled may result in one of the following error messages.
SYMPTOMS
After installing the service on any Windows Vista Operating System you get one of the following errors:
Concurrency violation: the UpdateComand affected 0 of the expected 1 records
or
Cannot open DNN KeepAlive 2008 service on computer 'xyz'
RESOLUTION
Update to the August 2008 release which solves this problem.
Workaround for installations before August 2008:
Please uninstall the service (if installed) using Control Panel => Programs and Features.
Disable UAC:
- Open a command prompt.
- Enter "msconfig" (without the quotes) and confirm with enter. The "System Configuration" tool appears.
- Select the "Tools" tab.
- Scroll down, select "Disable UAC"
- Click the "Launch" button.
- Restart your computer.
- Reinstall DNN Keep Alive using setup.exe.
STATUS
Since our August 2008 release we have added full Windows Vista support including UAC compliance.
